Favorite Kpop #5: BlackPink

BlackPink is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment and the first girl group to debut under the same entertainment company seven years after 2NE1. The group consists of four members: Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé. They officially debuted on August 8, 2016 with their single album called Square One. Blackpink fans are called “Blink”. The fandom name Blink means the fans start with Blackpink and ends with Blackpink.

In my opinion they sing and dance well as a group. I’ve enjoyed their different songs that they’ve already released out since their debut in 2016. They also made solo songs but only two of the members I like I’ve enjoyed their solo songs but from what I’ve researched Jisoo haven’t released her solo songs yet. I’m not a big blink fan since I don’t often listen to any of the girl groups since the majority I’ve enjoyed listening to more are the boy groups. They’re pretty and unique in their own way. They exude confidence while they perform and in my opinion they’re talented with the singing and dancing.

Blackpink have amassed a large following on social media and streaming platforms. They became the most subscribed music group on YouTube in September 2019, and the most subscribed female artist on YouTube in July 2020, and the most subscribed music act overall, in September 2021, with over 73 million subscribers as of April 2022. On Instagram, the group’s members are also the four most followed individuals based in South Korea (in order from first to fourth: Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé). Blackpink became the most followed girl group on Spotify in November 2019; as of April 2022, they have over 29 million followers. Especially in South Korea, Blackpink’s influence also extends to fashion. Each member has served as global ambassadors for different luxury brands: Jisoo for Dior, Jennie for Chanel, Rosé for Yves Saint Laurent, and Lisa for Bulgari and Celine. Additionally, Blackpink have been credited for drawing international attention to South Korean hanbok through their modern reinterpretations of the traditional costume in their “How You Like That” music video and performances.

The group considers fashion to be an important part of their public image, with Jennie telling Elle magazine that it “definitely empowers us as much as music does” and Rosé describing it as inseparable from their music. Their style has been noted for blending group uniformity with individual tastes.

BlackPink’s genre is edm, hip hop and trap. Here are their songs that I like and maybe someone else will like them too if these songs are something they’d be interested into.

    Hello Pim,
I couldn’t find a chatbox so I’m using your comments if you’re okay with that?
Thanks for your lovely comment about my design. Well … I’ve partly changed it back because I don’t like todays responsive Webdesign. To me it seems like all website are just made of boxes and nothing more. I miss the old times so badly in all it’s ways. There are only a few websites left, most of the people moved on to social media.
I will add you to my linklist as soon as I’m home.
Have a nice evening! Or night? (time shift)
    Lovely greets,
    ACT (Reika)
